Mt. Sopris and Thomas Lakes
We got an early start this morning, and hiked to Thomas Lakes, halfway up Mt. Sopris, in under two hours. It was windy and cool, but not nearly as windy as yesterday, and the skies weren't dusty or smokey either, as the cold front that swept through last night cleared everything up.
The western lake looked about normal, but the eastern lake was at least four feet below normal - very odd for this time of year. All of these photos were taken from points that would normally be several feet below the lake's surface.
Mt. Sopris is a few miles south of Carbondale, Colorado.
