Taken at Álafoss Iceland around 1941-1942

The story behind this photo:

This little dog belonged to British soldiers living in the British settlement at Álafoss Iceland during the WW2.

The dog fell into a well and was almost dead when the soldiers finally got him up.

They brought him to Rannveig, who was there in her summer house nearby, and asked her for help because they were very very concerned about the dog.

Rannveig took the dog, got him warm by using her kitchen oven and managed to pull him back to life.

And the soldiers (the great WW2 warriors – ready to sacrifice their own life at war), were extremely happy about that. (The men standing in the back are the UK soldiers).

(Strange world we live in - at war we are enemies - in real life we are all gentle friends)
