Deep Fried Red Bean Pancakes

I suspect the golden "sheen" of these red bean pancakes is actually the oil that soaks through these poorly done (not crispy, it was oily soggy - dripping!) red bean pancakes. Normally one of my chosen pastries, it was like eating raw dough brushed with a thin layer of equally oily red bean paste (that's how greasy it was - almost as if it were given a ladle of oil to finish). Very gross.
