Arch Red Rock Canyon California

    Newer Older

A small arch in Red Rock Canyon State Park, California. This small overlooks the Mojave Desert from the cliffs above the desert floor. A clearing storm brings soft light to the El Paso Mountain Range in the background. This was only a little over an hour drive from the Northern Los Angeles area. There are plenty of arches that haven't been photographed yet, so for the curious keep exploring.. .

I love strong foregrounds, and this delivers! Nice that you have a complementary sky with clouds, too.

Gorgeous image. I've passed this place many times but never turned off on the park road, next time I'm in the area I'm definitely going to have to stop.

Seriously?? You think there are still arches here that haven't been photographed yet?? I wonder if you could use Google Earth to find some of them... probably not hey... arches are tough to spot from above! :)

      I love this one though... A-shaped... A-is-for-Arch!

Great shot, but I wouldn't necessarily call this an arch, it's more like one elongated rock resting on another rock creating a gap underneath =)

Been there many times and never seen this. The lighting makes it look national-park quality!

Really cool, Steve. I've only been there once -- and just on a whim as I was coming home from the Alabama Hills. Definitely worth exploring...
