Legends of Zelda wedding cake topper - Princess Zelda and Link

    Newer Older

So this is what happens when you really love someone. When you accept them at their deepest level of dorkiness, and celebrate it to it's fullest. I made this as a surprise for my fiance. He has no idea this will top our cake next month. I can't wait to see his face.

I found a picture of this on another site that marked it as yours, I have looked all over the internet trying to find those figures to do the same thing for my upcoming wedding. If you could let me know where you found them and which version they are I would be soo appreciative.

Ok I have spent days on ebay and amazon looking for a Zelda cake topper. Where did you find yours? Do you have any helpful tips?

      Hi Folks,

I get so many inquiries about this cake topper that I thought I'd answer some FAQ's here:

      1) I like your cake topper, will you make me one or sell me the one you have?

Sorry folks, this is a one-of-a-kind item and I'm keeping it for sentimental reasons. I'm not able to make more, but if you have your own action figures, it's really easy to make it yourself - all it takes is a glue gun and a visit to a craft store and bake shop to get all the other stuff.

      2) Where did you get the action figures?

The Link figure was my husband's toy that he picked up somewhere over years of collecting only the finest of Nintendo dorkery. He has always been gentle with all his toys (even as a kid), so Link is in prefect condition. We even have his sword and shield, even though they weren't used on the cake topper! Many other people have contacted me to let me know that they can't find one like it, or that if they do find one (typically on Ebay) the cost is astronimical.

When it comes to the Princess, she is from the set of Legends of Zelda Twilight Princess action figures that came out around the time the game of the same name was released. I found her on Amazon - there was a guy selling un-assembled versions of the princess for only $4 a pop, but he sold out of the figure years ago and is no longer a seller on Amazon. We got married not long after Twilight Princess came out, so back then there were lots of these Princess figures around, but the version I got was extra cheap because she came unassembled and without the typical packaging. Getting to put her together was pretty fun though! Since several years have passed since our wedding, it seems that the only Princess figures out there now are really expensive too and can only be found on eBay.

      3) But I really want one! What can I do?

Your best bet (unless you want to spend a couple hundred dollars on ebay!) is to work with what you already have - action figures from your own childhood, or ones you can find at your flea market, local toy or comic shop!
