Pacific Northwest Hurricane ~ Lake 22 Trail, Washington

    Newer Older

I went out shooting this morning with Vinny, and his friend Mehrdad and we went on a search for waterfalls along the trail to Lake 22. After shooting around at one location we moved on to the next and as we crossed a bridge...I saw it. I immediately knew I needed to shoot this. Vinny and Mehrdad didn't seem convinced. After they saw my first shot they knew it was time to bust out the 6 stop ND's and get down. This...my friends...was one big old swirly family reunion. I love swirlys. Yeah, this is just one 7 second shot. They were really moving slow but they were fully contained here and just swirling and swirling. Thanks Dave!

Oh, hey dude! I didn't know you were online!
Thanks for the info about the single exposure.
If I were to shoot something like this again I would grab a few images and then stack them in PS and set the layers to "lighten". It works great for waves and light trails etc...

Holy crap! I just had a look at this in the large version. WOW!!
I love the detail in the rocks under water!
      Damn Buddy!

No need to do that Dave... I have a few shots that were 90+ seconds where I used a 6 stop ND and a polarizer and shot at f/16 and 50 ISO. Thanks man.

Looks like I've been missing out on a lot of your great work Aaron, but even in my jet-lagged state of mind, this one jumps right to the top of the pile for me. The motion of the water, and the clarity of the rocks below, are just stunning!
