    A rarely seen during the day bird. A migrant roosting, found by Michael Woodruff. Palouse Falls State Park. Franklin County, Washington State. May 24, 2009.

      I, too, think this little owl has amazing eyes!
      Just as it was becoming light out at dawn, I heard a soft hooting - one that I'd never heard before. When I checked out what owl made it, I found it was the flammulated owl so had to check out photos of it on Flickr. Gave me quite a thrill to hear this little owl in our area & hope they're becoming more common here.
