Giant Elk Of Butte, 1916

Real photo postcard. A little googling reveals that this picture was taken in Butte, Montana, around July 4, 1916. The elk, which stood at the corner of Broadway and Main, was built by Edmund Carns for B.P.O.E. Lodge 0240.


Sadly, the statue was disassembled after the state Elks convention and Fourth of July parade. You can read an article about it here. (And see another good picture here.)
