One of the eastern-most inhabited locations in Iceland. Along with the lighthouses, there is also a farm here. The nearest town is the tiny village of Brekka (pop. 35 or so) which is about 14 km (8.6 miles) away on a narrow winding road. The smaller lighthouse was the original lighthouse built on this site, and is one of the oldest surviving lighthouses in Iceland. I can't imagine what it would be like to live here in the winter. Very dark and isolated, I imagine.
