Chef Carolyn Huggins Simmons at the James Beard House
Chef Carolyn Huggins Simmons, owner and chef of Blue Southern Comfort Foods in Shreveport, Louisiana, recently won the James Beard Foundation's Better Burger Project. As a reward for winning this national competition, Simmons and her manager, Tina Jiles, were invited to cook and serve their "better burger" at the opening night of the James Beard Foundation's annual conference. In the food world, it is considered a tremendous honor to be given the opportunity to cook in the kitchen of the James Beard House.

Here are a few photos from Chef Carolyn Huggins Simmons' night of cooking and serving in the James Beard House in New York City. The prize-winning burger, named "The Once in a Blue Moon Burger," may be purchased at Blue Southern Comfort Foods in Shreveport.
