Enaphalodes rufulus (Red Oak Borer)

Since I have posted this everywhere else I should post it here. This is a Enaphalodes rufulus beetle aka the Red Oak Borer. This a native beetle whose larva bore into Oak Trees and may cause significant damage to the tree. This particular beetle came to my moth lights on July 9th, 2012. I photographed this in a white box with a diffuse flash from above. This is a fairly large beetle a little over 1 inch long.
