365 Day 324*
This picture reminds me of The Rock..
“Do you smell what The Rock is cookin?”
If you haven’t smiled or at least grimaced by this point, you have never seen this fucking guy in the WWE. Back in college I used to watch WWE all the time. Yes I will sit here and type away to the world that I used to be obsessed with Monday Night Raw and Thursday Night Smackdown in my early 20’s. Is this normal? I think it’s okay when you are in college to actually follow this shit and like it.
I used to go over my best friend Josh’s apartment and watch it with him. We used to laugh so hard at how fucking stupid it was. It’s so utterly ridiculous I swear I never laughed so hard in my life. I miss Josh. He was one of the most awesome people I’ve ever known. I wonder what ever happened to him? (You’d think in the age of Facebook and all I’d be able to track him down, but no, it hasn’t happened).
Anyway I don’t follow wrestling anymore. Even typing the word “wrestling” is kind of amusing to me because those assholes did everything BUT wrestle. But shit fuck me in the ass 15 times again if that wasn’t the most amusing thing to watch when I was 21 years old and vying for a bachelor degree that I don’t even use today. Go me.
The picture at hand? I actually went to this stupid ass rose garden figuring I could get my picture of the day out of the way there. Roses and flowers galore, this fucker has it all. But no, I couldn’t find one lousy shot among the roses. So I took my kid behind the rose garden up this path as seen and sat her down on the steps to snap this shot. Not quite sure what we were doing smelling the air like this. But fuck it that is what we did. And I think it’s borderline cute.
The album at hand? Yeah I know The Kinks were a British Invasion band. Yeah I know the core of their material is based in the 60’s and 70’s. And yes I realize this album is the best of their material from mostly the 80’s. But unlike The Beatles and some of those other fantastic bands from the 60’s, these guys kept it going (notably the Davies brothers). And their shit from the late 70’s and early 80’s is actually pretty good and worth listening to.
Anyway this album is fun. But to be honest I’m highlighting it for the song I am showcasing “Come Dancing”. I heart this song. It’s so silly and so fun and so listenable. I swear to god if I have to come up with a killer mix CD, this song is on it.
Attention world: if you have ever received a mix CD from me with this song on it, I like you.
Now that the cat is out of the bag, I have to retire my “Come Dancing” song from future mix CDs. But yeah, the song is pure exuberance. And sometimes exuberance is what you need from a tune.
