Herr Kettner's Kabaret, 22nd June 2012
The first of what will probably be quarterly events at Kettner's in Soho. The night had a 1920s Weimar Berlin theme to it and entertainment was spread between various rooms across two floors of "Herr Kettner's" decadently beautiful house. Like the Candlelight Club there was dancing to a live swing jazz band, the Boomtown Swingalings, and DJ Swingin' Dickie, plus complimentary swing dance lessons from the London Swingcats. But there was also a full cabaret bill in another room, featuring Tricity Vogue, Dusty Limits, Ruby Deshabillé, Suri Sumatra and Michael Roulston. Meanwhile at the Absinthe Fountain Helen from Pernod was dispensing wisdom and absinthe cocktails and, wandering through the building, close-up magic star Oli Hambling was amazing onlookers throughout the night. In the Café Photo guests could have themselves snapped by our vintage photo portraitist.
