Details: Antony Verdon Verdon, also known as Antony Verdon Roe, born 1 July 1915, son of Rev. Everard Verdon and Mary Edith Dorothea (nee Walker), Caundle Marsh Rectory, near Sherborne, Dorset. Brother of Colin Everard Verdon Roe (b.1910). In 1944, married Phyllis Eva Impett. Surname changed to Verdon-Roe in December 1933. At time of death living at 12 Kinfauns Crescent, Perth, Scotland. Nephew of Humphrey Verdon Roe and Dr Marie Charlotte Carmichael Stopes.


Attended Sherborne Preparatory School.


Attended Sherborne School (Day boy and Abbeylands) May 1929-July 1933; 1st Class Gym, Gym Squad (1931-1933).


Joined Barclays Bank straight from School.


WW2, at the outbreak of war joined the army and was evacuated from Dunkirk. Transferred to Royal Air Force and trained as a pilot in 612 Coastal Command Squadron, made a Flight-Sergeant. Killed in action over the Bay of Biscay on 18 March 1944, aged 28.
