Details: Skipwith Edward Tayler (1898-1941), born on Viper Island in the Andaman Islands on 9 July 1898, son of Major Henry Graham Tayler and Helen Dorothea Tayler of Haywards Heath, Sussex, formerly of Lyndcote, Lindfield, Sussex.


Siblings: Jervoise Graham Tayler (1892-1915)


Married to Freda Fortescue Tayler of Brenchley, Kent.


Attended Brunswick School, Haywards Heath, Sussex.


Attended Sherborne School (School House) September 1912-July 1915; 2nd XV rugby football (1914-15).


Cadet College, Quetta.


WW1, Lieutenant in the Royal Garhwal Rifles.

Waziristan, 1919-1921 and 1922-1924; N.W. Frontier, 1930.


WW2, Lieutenant-Colonel commanding 3rd Bn. 18th Royal Garhwal Rifles, Indian Army. Mentioned in despatches. Killed in action at Keren, Eritrea, on 17 March 1941, aged 43.
