Details: Arthur Fairfax Norman-Walker (1912-1944), born 4 August 1912, formerly Arthur Fairfax Walker, son of Colonel J. Norman-Walker, CIE, IMS, of Streatley, Berkshire.


Attended Warden House preparatory school, Upper Deal, Kent.


Attended Sherborne School (Abbey House) May 1926-December 1930; 6th form; School Gym Squad 1929 & 1930; School Shooting Eight team 1930; awarded Cadet Trophy at Bisley in July 1929.


Royal Military Academy, Woolwich.


WW2, Major, 1 Light Battery, 1 Air Landing Regiment, Royal Artillery. Killed in action at Arnhem, Holland, on 22 September 1944, aged 32.

Obituary, The Shirburnian, March 1945: 'Arthur F. Norman-Walker, son of Colonel I.N. Norman-Walker, C.I.E., I.M.S., went to Woolwich from Abbey House, where he was from 1926-1930. He was the second son of a much loved Sherborne family, and one felt he had a distinguished military career in front of him. He had a lively sense of humour and enjoyed life to the full, and made others happy wherever he was. He was killed at Arnhem.'
