Details: Malcolm Edward Monteith Maclaren (1915-1941), born 22 July 1915, eldest son of Dr Malcolm Maclaren and Charlotte Harriett Maclaren, of Feock, Cornwall (later of Redruth, Cornwall).


Attended a preparatory school in Barton-on-Sea.


Attended Sherborne School (School House) January 1929-April 1932; 6th form.


Presented to Sherborne School: 'A Short Introduction of Grammar Compiled and Set Forth for the Bringing up of all Those That Intend to Attain to the Knowledge of the Latin Tongue' (William Norton, London, 1703)


Caius College, Cambridge, BSc. In 1935, rowed '2' in the Caius Boat at the Henley Regatta and rowed for Caius in the Lowe Double Sculls. In 1936, rowed in the semi-finals of the Fairbairn Junior Sculls at Cambridge.


With Consolidated Goldfields of South Africa, Johannesburg.


WW2, Second Lieutenant, 2nd County of London Yeomanry (Westminster Dragoons), Royal Armoured Corps. Killed on active service at Helmsley, Yorkshire, on 10 October 1941, aged 26.
