Obituary, 'The Shirburnian', December 1944: 'Charles Ireton Ellis, son of C.H. Ellis, Esq., Willington House, near Maidstone, came to Sherborne in September, 1932, and left in July, 1936 to take up residence at Trinity College, Cambridge. He was destined to follow his father in the Legal profession, and had made considerable headway towards this ambition when war broke out. He was a very friendly, loyal boy and, although he was pretty often in hot water here and earned many a beating, he never bore the slightest ill-will and remained right up to the end of his time a very faithful Shirburnian. His shrewdness and application would most certainly have gained him a very high place in the Legal profession.'
