    Details: Charles Sydenham Blundell (1913-1943), born 4 February 1913, son of Colonel Charles Wilson Blundell and Annie Kate Blundell of Lexden, Hartley Avenue, Plymouth; husband of Joan Gladys Blundell, of Fleet, Hampshire.

    Attended Mount House School, Plymouth.

    Attended Sherborne School (Abbey House) January 1927-July 1931; 6th form; 1st XV rugby football team 1929, 1930.

    Trinity College, Cambridge; Vintners Scholar, 1935.
    Wine trade.

    WW2, Lieutenant-Commander, HMS Carlisle, Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (RNVR). Killed in action on HMS Carlisle off Cos on 9 October 1943, aged 30.

    Obituary, 'The Shirburnian', December 1944: 'Charles Blundell achieved all-round success during his four years at Sherborne; not only was he in the VIth form and the XV for two years, but was a most popular boy in the School and a good House Prefect. He went up to Trinity College, Cambridge, and became a Vintners scholar in 1935. When the war broke out he joined the R.N.V.R. and earned quick promotion. He was killed in action in October 1943.'
