Details: John Maurice Wakefield Knott (1920-1942), born 1 January 1920, son of Lieutenant-Colonel John Espenett Knott, CMG, DSO, and Dorothy Mary Knott (nee Bayly), of Birchyfields, Bromyard, Herefordshire.

 

Attended The Downs School, Colwall, Malvern, Worcestershire.

 

Attended Sherborne School (Abbey House) September 1933-December 1937; 6th form (Army Class); Certificate 'A'.

 

Royal Military College, Sandhurst.

 

WW2, Lieutenant, 6th Royal Tank Regiment, R.A.C. Mentioned in despatches. Killed in action at El Adem, Libya, on 11 June 1942, aged 22.
