Details: Robert Adrian Horace Ward (1912-1942), born 14 December 1912, son of Major Robert Oscar Cyril Ward (Royal Tank Regiment) and Florence Mary Ward, of Rokeby, 35 Roman Road, Hove, Sussex.


Attended Fernden School, Hazlemere, Surrey.


Attended Sherborne School (Abbey House) September 1926-March 1931; 6th form; School Prefect; Bowen History prize, 1930; English Essay prize, 1930; Longmuir English prize, 1930; 2nd XV rugby football (1930-31); CSM in OTC; Class Leader with Badge; member of Duffers.


Exhibitioner, Hertford College, Oxford; University Boxing Team.


Malayan Civil Service.


WW2, Second Lieutenant in the 18th Royal Garhwal Rifles. Killed in action at Johore Causeway, Singapore, on 15 February 1942, aged 29.
