Details: Norman Joseph Macdonald Teacher (1914-1943), born in Edinburgh on 6 February 1914, son of Lt.-Col. Norman Teacher DS), Royal Scots Fusiliers, and Dorothy Annadale Teacher (nee Hone) of Spider's Bay, Clonbur, County Galway, Ireland.


Attended West Downs School, Winchester, Hampshire.


Attended Sherborne School (School House) September 1927-December 1931; 6th form (Army Class); House Prefect; Sergeant in OTC; Class Leader.


Special Entry, Royal Navy.


WW2, Lieutenant-Commander, H.M.C.S. Quebec, Royal Navy.

Awarded DSO (14 January 1941). Mentioned in Despatches (21 April 1942). Captain of H.M.A.S. Stuart (28 September- 6 October 1940).

Killed in action during Operation ‘ Husky’, the invasion of Sicily on 28 February 1943, aged 29. Having launched a canoe with Lieut Noel Cooper from HMS Unbending they paddled off to make their initial reconnaissance of the area, but only Cooper returned.
