Details: Harry Rodway Rix (1900-1942), born 4 September 1900, son of Harry Sidney Rix (Old Shirburnian), Gonda, Oudh, Indian Civil Service, later of Brockwood, Burwash, Sussex.


Attended Hazelhurst School, Frant, Sussex.


Attended Sherborne School (Abbeylands) September 1914-July 1919; 6th form; School Prefect; Head of House; 1st XI cricket (1919); 2nd XV rugby football (1918-1919); Class Leader; Sergeant in OTC.


The Shirburnian, July 1919: 'Characters of the XI. H.R. RIX. Has made himself into a bowler of sorts, but has not has the best of luck. His tendency was to bowl too short, but he generally managed to avoid bowling to leg. Has good defence as a bat and has played several useful innings at critical times. A moderate field.'

Barrister-at-Law (Gray's Inn).


Advocate and solicitor, Supreme Court, Malay States.


WW2, Captain in the Malay Regiment (General List). Mentioned in despatches. Killed in action at Singapore on 14 February 1942, aged 31.
