Details: John Rudolph Moritz (1906-1942), born 26 March 1906, son of Martin Rudolph Moritz and Amy Carbet Campson Moritz of The Gables, Claygate, Surrey. Married to Eva Eugenie Collicutt. Lived at Hardwycke, Grove Way, Esher, Surrey.


Attended St Cyprian’s School, Eastbourne.


Attended Sherborne School (The Green) September 1919-December 1923; 5th form.


Stock Exchange.


WW2, Lieutenant, 150 Lt. A.A. Battery, Royal Artillery. Died of wounds at El Alamein on 4 November 1942, aged 36.

Obituary, The Shirburnian, March 1945: 'John Rudolf Moritz was at Sherborne from September 1919 to 1923. On leaving he went on the Stock Exchange. He died of wounds received in the Middle East in November 1942, while serving as a Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery.'
