Details: Ian Derek Lacon Moir (1916-1944), born in Glasgow on 11 September 1916,son of Ian Moir and Christina Fleming Moir, of Edinburgh. Lived at 187 Bruntsfield Place, Edinburgh.


Attended Lawrence House School, St-Annes-on-Sea, Lancashire.


Attended Sherborne School (Westcott House) September 1930-July 1935; scholar; 6th form; School Prefect; Head of House; 1st XI Hockey (1934-1935); 2nd XV (1933, Captain 1934); 3rd XI (Captain 1935); Class Leader with Badge; Sergeant in OTC; Tennis VI (1935); Games Editor of The Shirburnian; member of Duffers.


Cowan Scholar, Edinburgh University, M.A.


WW2, Major, 19 Field Regiment, Royal Artillery. Killed in action at Gothic Ridge, Italy, on 20 September 1944, aged 28.
