    Details: Michael Wakeham Major (1912-1941), born in London on 21 December 1912, son of Revd. Dr Henry Dewsbury Alves Major and of Mary Eliza Major, of Merton Vicarage, Bicester and of Ripon Hall, Boars Hill, Berkshire.

    Attended Dragon School, Oxford.

    Attended Sherborne School (School House) September 1926-December 1928.

    Exeter College, Oxford, BA.

    Clerk to the High Court of Justice, Southern Rhodesia.

    Took his aviators' certificate in a DH60 Gipsy at Eastbourne Flying Club on 16 September 1937.

    WW2, Pilot Officer (Pilot) in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve (RAFVR). Killed in action on 22 July 1941 while trying to land a Hampden P5305 at RAF Hinton-in-the-Hedges, Northamptonshire, aged 28.
