Details: Thomas Middlebrook Horsfall (1913-1942), born 3 December 1912, son of Thomas Middlebrook Horsfall (Old Shirburnian), Northside, Haydon Bridge, Northumberland. Married to Janet Elizabeth Horsfall (nee Scott Willey), Oak Cottage, Chipstead, Surrey.


Attended Bickley Hall School, Kent.


Attended Sherborne School (The Green) January 1928-July 1933; 6th form (Army Class); School Prefect; XXX Blazer (1931, Captain 1932); 3rd XI (1933); 1st Class Gym; Gym Squad (1930, 1931, 1932, 1933); Class Leader with Badge; Camp PT Squad; Sergeant in OTC; member of Duffers.


Police College, 1935.


Junior Station Inspector.


WW2, Pilot Officer in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve (RAFVR). Killed on active service at Dinder, Wells, Somerset, on 3 July 1942, aged 29.

Obituary, 'The Shirburnian', December 1944: 'Thomas Middlebrook Horsfall, Pilot-Officer, R.A.F.V.E., was killed on active service in July 1942. At School he was a School Prefect, and on leaving he joined the Police Force. He passed through the Police College, and later became a Junior Inspector at Scotland Yard.'
