Details: James Day (1924-1945), born 5 June 1924, son of John Day and Madeline Webb Day of Stone House, East Pennard, Shepton Mallet, Somerset.

 

Attended Kingswell Court preparatory school, Bradford-on-Avon.

 

Attended Sherborne School (The Green) September 1938-July 1941.

 

WW2, Flying Officer (Pilot), 166 Squadron, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve (RAFVR). Killed in action over Lutzendorf, Germany, on 5 April 1945, aged 20.

 

Commemorated at:

Berlin 1939-1945 War Cemetery, Germany, Coll. grave 6. G. 13-19. Inscription on headstone: ‘IN UNFAILING MEMORY OF A VERY BRAVE AIRMAN’ www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/2079265/day,-james/
