    Details: Hugh John Robert Chittenden (1918-1942), born on 22 July 1918 at Headington, Oxfordshire, son of Hugh Faithfull Chittenden MC and Barbara May Chittenden (née Grundy) of Newlands, Seaford, Sussex.

    Siblings: Barbara Joan Chittenden (1921-2006) & George William David Chittenden (1926-2001).

    Attended a preparatory school run by his father, H.F. Chittenden, at Newlands, Seaford, Sussex.

    Attended Sherborne School (Abbey House) September 1932-July 1937; 6th form; shooting viii team (1936)l House Prefect; PT Instructor; Corporal in OTC.

    Corpus Christi College, Oxford.

    WW2, Sergeant in the Royal East African Corps of Military Police. Killed on active service at Mombasa (Mbaraki), Kenya, on 30 October 1942, aged 24.
