Obituary in 'The Shirburnian', December 1944: 'Paul Bulmer, who was lost in one of H.M. Submarines in the Mediterranean in 1942, was the second son of Mr and Mrs David Bulmer of Canon Pyon, near Hereford. He was at Abbeylands from 1934 to 1937. Both during his school days and during his too brief career in the Navy he was distinguished for his sturdy independence of judgement and his very shrewd sense of humour. He was a keen sportsman and a most entertaining companion, with the true countryman's love of the country and its pursuits.'
