Details: William Augustus Spencer Edwards (1874-1916), born 26 October 1874, son of Lieutenant-Colonel Spencer Henry Hutchins Edwards and Flora Campbell Edwards (née Bowie) of Abbotsleigh, Freshford, Bath, Somerset.


Attended Rev. W.G. Luckman's preparatory school, Bath.


Attended Sherborne School (Price's house) January 1889-April 1890.


Subsequently attended Haileybury College (Trevelyan) 1890-1892.


Joined North Staffordshire Regiment, 1897; Major 1915.


WW1, Major in the North Staffordshire Regiment. Severely wounded in Gallipoli in July 1915, but subsequently rejoined his regiment. Died in Mesopotamia on 30 April 1916 of wounds received at Sanna-I-Yat on 9 April 1916.
