Details: Francis Desmond Hoskins (1895-1915), born 7 December 1895, son of Horatio Francis Alexander Hoskins (Solicitors' Office, Paddington Station) and Amy Kate Hoskins of 43, Gloucester Gardens, Bayswater, London, formerly of 20 Abingdon Street, Westminster.


Attended Brunswick House, Haywards Heath, East Sussex.


Attended Sherborne School (Harper House) September 1910-April 1914; 1st XV rugby football team 1913.


Occupation: Engineering.


WW1, 2nd Lieutenant in the Prince of Wales's (North Staffordshire Regiment), 1st Bn. August 1914, entered Sandhurst; 10 December 1914, gazetted 2nd Lieutenant, North Staffordshire Regiment; March 1915, went to France to 1st Bn.; July 1915, appointed Bn. Machine Gun Officer. Died in Flanders on 2 October 1915 from a shell splinter wound in the head received the previous day.
