Details: Thomas MacWhirter (1884-1917), born 23 October 1884, son of William MacWhirter and Elizabeth MacWhirter of 9, Rickmansworth Road, Watford, Hertfordshire, formerly of 14 Chesterford Gardens, Hampstead, London.


Attended Heath Mount School, Hampstead Heath.


Attended Sherborne School (Abbey House) January 1900-July 1902; 1st XV rugby football team 1901.


WW1, Major in the Gordon Highlanders, 9th (S.) Bn. (Pioneers). Wounded twice. Awarded the Military Cross. Killed on the Arras front on 27 April 1917.
