Details: Robert George Frederic Maunsell (1891-1917), born 25 March 1891 at Bournemouth. Son of Major Robert George Stone Maunsell and Anna Margaret Maunsell of Amberd, 30, Dean Park Road, Bournemouth.


Attended Saugeen School, Bournemouth.


Attended Sherborne School (School House) September 1904-July 1908. Took part in the 1905 Sherborne Pageant




Trained as a pupil under the late Mr D. Drummond, M. Inst. C.E., and Mr R.W. Urie, Locomotive Engineer to the London and South Western Railway Company. He was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in February 1917.


WW1, Captain in the Royal Engineers (T.F.), 1/7th Field Company, Hampshire. Drowned in the Mediterranean on the way to Salonkia when the troopship "Transylvania" was torpedoed on 4 May 1917.
