Details: Alastair Milligan (1897-1917), born 27 October 1897 in Edinburgh. Second son of John Milligan (writer to the Signet) and Mary Milligan (nee Waugh) of 10 Carlton Terrace, Edinburgh.


Attended the Edinburgh Academy 1904-1912.


Attended Sherborne School (Abbeylands) September 1912-July 1915; 6th form.


WW1, 2nd Lieutenant in the Princess Louise's (Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders). September 1915, commissioned to 3rd Bn. (Reserve); kept at Dreghorn as Bombing Officer until the end of January 1917 (when he was 19). Served with the Expeditionary Force in France and Flanders from 30 January 1917. Wounded at Roeux on 23 April 1917 and died on 30 April 1917 at No.24 General Hospital, Etaples. Buried at Etaples Military Cemetery, XVII. B. 12.
