Details: Laurence Reeves (1899-1918), born 14 February 1899. son of James B. Reeves and Josephine Reeves of The Red House, New Barnet, Hertfordshire, and 23 Queen Victoria Street, London.


Attended Lake House preparatory school, Bexhill.


Attended Sherborne School (School House) May 1913-July 1917; 6th form; House Prefect; 2nd XI cricket team; lance-corporal in the OTC.


Passed fourth in the preliminary examination for chartered accountants.


WW1, 2nd Lieutenant in the Hertfordshire Regiment, 1st Bn. Joined a cadet battalion and was gazetted to the Hertfordshire Regiment. Commissioned in December 1917, he went to France in April 1918; was gassed; attached to 1st Battalion of the Essex Regiment in July 1918. Died on 25 August 1918 of wounds received on an attack near Doullens on 23 August 1918.
