Details: Duncan Galloway Smith (1890-1916), born 25 April 1890, son of Harold Duke Smith (Engineer, G.W.R., Paddington) of Ivy Cottage, Ivybridge, South Devon; husband of Florence Ethel Smith.


Attended The Limes preparatory school, Shrewsbury.


Attended Sherborne School (School House) January 1905-July 1909; 1st XI cricket team 1908, 1909; 1st XV rugby football team 1906, 1908 (captain). Took part in the 1905 Sherborne Pageant


Member of the Somerset XV rugby football team.


Pupil of Mr W. Dawson, M. Inst. C.E., of the London and North Western Railway, and was admitted a Student of the Institution in March 1911.


Articled to Sir A.Gibbs, Rosyth Harbour Works.


WW1, Captain in the Royal Engineers (T.F.). Died of wounds in France on 26 June 1916.
