Details: Donald Gordon Campbell, 4 January 1885 at

Toorak, Melbourne, Australia, son of J.A. Campbell and Jane Campbell of Attawa, Toorak, Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. His younger brother was killed in France in October 1916.


Attended Melbourne Grammar School, 1899-1900, and F. Townsend's school in Chislehurst.


Attended Sherborne School (Abbey House), September 1901-August 1904; 1st XI cricket team 1902, 1903, 1904.


Member of Melbourne Cricket Club.


Overseer at Dungalear Station at Walgett, New South Wales, Australia.


WW1, 2nd Lieutenant in the Australian Imperial Force, 1st Australian Division, 3rd Infantry Brigade, 11th Bn. Enlisted as a private in August 1914 and departed Freemantle aboard HMAT Ascanius on 2 November 1914 and served in Palestine and France. Commissioned at Pozieres in August 1916. Killed 3 September 1916 leading his men in an attack on Mouquet Farm.
