Details: Francis Russell Eagar (1893-1915), born at Newcastle-upon-Tyne on 27 September 1893, son of Captain Edward Boaz Eagar (5th Northumberland Fusiliers) (7 April 1860-23 November 1899, killed at the relief of Kimberley, South Africa) and Ada Mary Barbara (née Thoyts) (1865-1951) of The Priory, Bishops Cleeve, Gloucestershire (formerly of The Beeches, Farnborough, Hampshire).

Attended Connaught House preparatory school, Weymouth, Dorset.


Attended Sherborne School (The Green) May 1907-December 1912; 6th form; School Prefect; Head of House (The Green); Head of School; Colour Sergeant in OTC.


Entered the Royal Military Academy, Woolwich, in February 1913. Obtained a commission in the Royal Field Artillery in August 1914.


WW1, Lieutenant in the Royal Field Artillery, 8th Division, 30th Battery. Killed at Fleurbaix on 9 May 1915.
