Details: George Edward Douglas Elsmie (1866-1917), born 14 September 1866 in India, son of George Robert Elsmie, C.S.I., LL.D., and Elizabeth Elsmie; husband of Ethel Grace Vivian Elsmie, of 32 Carden Place, Aberdeen.


Attended Mr A. Harrison's preparatory school, The Lodge, Dunchurch, Rugby.


Attended Sherborne School (School House) September 1880-July 1882; scholar; 6th form.


Attended Eton College.


Lieutenant, Bombay S.C., 1885; Burmese Expedition, 1885-1889; Miranzai Expedition, 1891; Captain, 1896; 5th Punjab Cavalry.


WW1, Lieutenant-Colonel in command of the 20th Deccan Horse. Officer Legion d'Honneur. Killed in Mesopotamia on 18 June 1917. Buried at Kohat Cemetery 169.
