Details: Wilfrid Edmund Elliot (1892-1916), born 25 March 1892, younger son of Dr. Edmund Arthur Savage Elliot and Edith Fanny Elliot of Slade, Kingsbridge, Devon.


Attended Sherborne Preparatory School.


Attended Sherborne School (School House) May 1906-April 1909.


Attended the School of Engineering, Crystal Palace.


Attended Trinity College, Cambridge, 1911.


WW1, at the outbreak of war he enlisted in the Devon Yeomanry, later obtaining a commission in the D.C.L.I, and then transferring to the Dorsetshire Regiment, 7th (S.) Bn. He went to Gallipoli in September 1915, and was attached to the Lancashire Fusiliers as Machine Gun Officer. At the evacuation he went to Egypt and became a Bombing Officer. In June 1916, he came back to France and after resting and taking part in minor operations, he went back to the front line and was killed at the Somme in France on 26 September 1916 at the head of a bombing party in a general attack.
