Details: Charles Eric Blandford, born on 4 August 1896 at Clifton, son of Charles Rickwood Blandford (insurance manager) and Annie Helena Jane Blandford (née Mackay) of 5, Leigh Road, Clifton, Bristol.

 

Siblings: James Vivian Christian Blandford (1899-1968).

Kathleen Nancye Blandford (1901-1986).

 

Attended Clifton Preparatory School.

 

Attended Sherborne School (School House) January 1910-April 1913.

 

Occupation: farming.

 

WW1, Sapper in the King's Royal Rifle Corps, 22nd Bn., attached 5th Field Survey Bn, Royal Engineers. Serivce no. 313266.

Died on the Somme on 20 July 1918, aged 21.

Sherborne School: War Memorial Staircase; Book of Remembrance. C.R. Blandford donated £5.5s. to the Sherborne School War Memorial in memory of his son, Lt. C.E. Blandford.

 

In an informal will made by C.E. Blandford on 12 October 1916, he left all of his belongings to his mother, Mrs Annie Blandford, 5 Leigh Road, Clifton, Bristol.
