Details: Eric Augustine Bennetts, born 28 August 1895, son of the Rev. Thomas Bennetts and Annie Margaret Bennetts (nee Griffiths) of Lewannick Vicarage, Launceston, Cornwall.


Attended Hazeldon Preparatory School, Tavistock, Devon.


Attended Sherborne School (The Green) September 1909-July 1913; Scholar; 6th form; Digby Maths prize 1913; Public Schools Boxing 1913 (School Bantam at Aldershot); Gym colours; House XV colours.


Attended a college in Cape Town.


WW1, Flight Sub-Lieutenant, Royal Naval Air Service. Formerly Lance-Corporal in Cape Town Highlanders, South African Defence Force (Signalling Instructor). Killed on 17 August 1917 in an air battle, north-east of Lens.

Sherborne School: War Memorial Staircase; Book of Remembrance; The Green roll of honour. Rev. T. Bennetts donated £15 towards the Sherborne School War Memorial in memory of his son 2nd Lt. E.A. Bennetts.
