Details: Eric William Benison (1889-1915), born 22 August 1889 at Frenchay, Gloucestershire. Son of the Revd. Ernest Dewes Benison and Jessie Kemp Benison (née Welch) of Farrs, Wimborne, Dorset.

 

Siblings: Alieen Mary Dewes Benison (1891-), Marjorie Benison (1893-).

 

Attended Southbourne Preparatory School.

 

Attended Sherborne School (School House) September 1903-August 1908; 6th form; Prefect. Took part in the 1905 Sherborne Pageant www.flickr.com/photos/sherborneschoolarchives/15974327392...

 

1908-1912, studying at Magdalen College, Oxford, Modern History (3rd). Vice-Secretary to Canning Club, 1910-1911. Member of the Hanover Club (Anglo-German discussion grou). Honorary Secretary of the New Tory Club.

WW1, 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Garrison Artillery (T.), No.3 Company, Dorsetshire. Died on 13 August 1915 at a nursing home at Weymouth following an operation for peritonitis. Buried 17 August 1915 at Wimborne Minister Cemetery, plot C.9.4821.
