Details: Charles Reginald Chamberlin Bean, born 23 November 1892 in Plymouth, Devon, son of Charles Edward Bean (1854-1923), F.R.C.S., and Ada Julia Bean (née Stone) of 19 Lockyer Street, Plymouth, Devon. Brother of Dorothy Maude Bean (1891-1976) and Cyril Victor Bean (1898-1932).
Attended Mount House School, Plymouth, Devon, and Sherborne Preparatory School.
Attended Sherborne School (Abbey House) September 1905-April 1908.
Entered Royal Military College, Sandhurst in September 1911. In January 1913 was gazetted to the 1st Battalion of the South Staffordshire Regiment and joined his regiment at Pietermaritzburg in April 1913, becoming a Lieutenant in September 1914.
WW1, Lieutenant in the South Staffordshire Regiment. Was sent to the front early in October 1914 and on 25 October 1914 was sent to support a trench near Ypres and after fighting all night was wounded on the morning of 26 October 1914. He refused to leave the trench for medical aid and was killed shortly afterwards. His body was last seen lying on the parapet of the trench. Died 26 October 1914 near Ypres.
