Details: Arthur Henry Winn-Sampson (1886-1916), born 27 June 1886, son of Lt. Col. Francis Robert Winn Sampson and Mrs. Winn Sampson of 115, Tannsfield Road, Sydenham, London, formerly of Old Calabar, Nigeria.


Attended St Winifred's preparatory school, Henley.


Attended Sherborne School (Harper House) May 1901-December 1904.


WW1, 2nd Lieutenant in the Duke of Cambridge's Own (Middlesex Regiment), 5th Bn. (Reserve), attached 4th Bn. On the morning of 1 July 1916 the 4th Bn. Middlesex Regiment attacked the German lines to the north of Fricourt. He was killed in action that day, aged 30.
