Details: Harold Emmott Large (1880-1915), born on 31 March 1880 at Surbiton, Surrey, the fifth son of Robert Emmott Large (1845-1926), solicitor, and Julia Ann Large (née Martin) (1840-1899) of Latchmore, Brockenhurst, Hampshire, formerly of West Field, Surbiton, Surrey.

Robert Large (1871-).

Henry Francis Large (1873-1913).

Philip Martin Large (1874-23 April 1915), 3rd Middlesex Regiment.

Herbert Edward Large (1877-15 February 1915), 3rd Middlesex Regiment.

 

Attended Elm House School, Surbiton, Surrey.

 

Attended Sherborne School (Harper House) September 1894-1899; 2nd XV.

 

Captain, Rifle Brigade (6th Battalion, Militia), 1900-1908.

South African War, Lieutenant, Middlesex Regiment, awarded Queen's Medal with clasp.

 

Lived at Plodstown, Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland, where he was a fine rider to hounds.

 

WW1, September 1914 obtained a Captaincy in the Rifle Brigade (The Prince Consort's Own), 10th (S.) Bn. Died at 60th Field Ambulance Hospital on 9 October 1915 from wounds received in action at Laventie, France.
