Details: Harold Emmott Large (1880-1915), born 31 March 1880, fifth son of Robert Emmott Large of Latchmore, Brockenhurst, Hampshire, formerly of West Field, Surbiton. Brother of Major Philip Martin Large, 3rd Middlesex Regiment (d. 23 April 1915), Captain Herbert Edward Large, 3rd Middlesex Regiment (d. 15 February 1915), and Robert Large.


H.E. Large lived at Plodstown, Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland, where he was a fine rider to hounds.


Attended Elm House School, Surbiton.


Attended Sherborne School (Harper House) September 1894-1899; 2nd XV.


South African War, Lieutenant, Middlesex Regiment. Queen's Medal with clasp.


WW1, September 1914 obtained a Captaincy in the Rifle Brigade (The Prince Consort's Own), 10th (S.) Bn. Died at 60th Field Ambulance Hospital on 9 October 1915 from wounds received that day at Laventie, France.
