Details: Eric Marshall Larnder (1892-1917), born 13 October 1892 in Gravesend, Kent, son of Colonel Eugene William Larnder (Royal Army Veterinary Corps) and Mary Larnder (nee Marshall) of Penlie, Churchfields, Salisbury, Wiltshire.
Attended Fairfield preparatory school, Malvern.
Attended Sherborne School (Abbeylands) September 1907-April 1912.
WW1, Lieutenant in the West India Regiment, and was serving with the1st Bn. at Sierra Leone at the outbreak of war. After trying all other means of getting to the front, he resigned his Commission in September 1916, returned to England and enlisted as a Private in the 6th Dorsets in October 1916. He was sent to France in December 1916 and was killed in action at Arras on 23 April 1917, aged 24.
