Details: Arthur Clapton (1893-1916), born in Cheltenham on 3 May 1893, son of Rev. Ernest Clapton and Margaret Jane Clapton of The Orchard, Sherborne, Dorset, formerly of Stebbing Vicarage, Chelmsford.


Attended Lickey Hills Preparatory School and Sherborne Preparatory School.


Attended Sherborne School (Abbeylands) September 1907-July 1912; 6th form.


Attended Magdalene College, Cambridge.


WW1, Joined the Public Schools Battalion and was commissioned 2nd Lieutenant in the Royal Fusiliers (City of London Regiment), 32nd Bn. Killed at the Somme on 15 September 1916.
