Details: Eric Ralph Carrington Hobson (1895-1938), born 12 February 1895 in San Fernando, Trinidad, son of Leonard Manley Hobson, attorney-at-law, and Dorothy Asygell Williams Hobson (née Carrington), Circular Road, San Fernando, Trinidad. Married to Ruth Evelyn Hobson (née Large). Lived at High View, Derby Road, Caversham, Reading.


Attended Lancing College, June 1908-December 1913.


Attended Sherborne School (School House) January 1910-December 1913; shooting viii team (1912, 1913); 2nd XV (1913, 1914).


Occupation: Trinidad Constabulary, 1914-1916.


WW1, Captain, British West Indian Regiment and Royal Flying Corps (DFC).


Squadron-Leader, Royal Air Force.


Died on 9 April 1938. He was found shot dead in an office at Ramleh Aerodrome in Palestine with a revolver lying next to his body. Initial reports suggested that he had been killed by an Arab but it was quickly established that this was not the case.


Commemorated at:

Ramleh War Cemetery, Israel.
